I remembered the delicious strawberry Daifuku I had received as treat, I immediately went to Ninigi on the basement floor of Isetan. This time I bought two fruit Daifuku, Gion Pocchiri and Strawberry Fuku Koshian. "Pocchiri" is a cute name that evokes the beauty of color and is said to be a clasp worn by maiko. The inside is filled with chestnuts, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, etc., making it very juicy. The soft, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth mochi is wrapped in whipped cream, which goes well with the sourness of the fruit, allowing you to enjoy the different textures. The strawberries in the "Strawberry Fuku" are juicy and sweet, and go perfectly with the smooth, sweet bean paste wrapped in soft, fluffy mochi. The types of fruit change depending on the season, so I'd love to try other ones. Kyoto is really great because it has such delicious food.
