Dal Bhat, Nepal's national dish, is sometimes called "sadakana" or "chicken kana." "Sada" means "plain, ordinary." "Kana" means "cooking, meal", so ordinary and simple Dal Bhat is called "Sadakana". In most cases, rice, dal (bean soup), tarkari (stir-fried vegetables), and achar (pickles) come on one plate. If you add chicken, it becomes "Chicken Kana". So even though it was my first visit to Deep Jyoti, I was waiting for something like the ★NEPALI SADA KHANA SET (1100 yen) to arrive. Even though it wasn't a pure Nepali style, I imagined it to be a somewhat plain one plate. The moment the food arrived, I couldn't help but let out a wry smile. Something outside of my expectations has arrived. -------------------------------------------------- ---- First of all, Tarkari has a strong presence. So much. It wouldn't look out of place if served as a single dry curry item for dinner. Potatoes, okra, green beans, and broccoli are cut into large pieces. It has a strong garlic flavor, giving it a junky flavor. It's a strong side dish. The rice was turmeric rice. A yellow tint adds brightness to the plate. It's hard to see because he's wearing a papad (bean Senbei (rice crackers)) like a hat, but he also has a large amount of rice. Dal has a paste-like consistency. It's probably the same type you would put on naan. It's not soup. It tastes similar to Japanese curry. Achar was a pickle made mainly of radish. It's so poly-poly. It has a nice acidity and is delicious. I also ate the soup in a Georgia coffee cup while pouring it over rice. It was a sadakana set that was not "normal". Overall, it was hearty and the seasoning was strong. I had to stretch my stomach to its limit to finish the meal. -------------------------------------------------- ---- Although I felt like I had more energy, I had a hard time feeling like I was going to stand up because I felt full. As the regulars who came in later left the store, I leaned my upper body slightly back and took a slow breath. After a long break, I showed Tabelog coupon to the Nepali clerk and paid 990 yen. By the way, there was also a holiday buffet. There were many naan and curry set menus. There are also biryani and fried rice sets. No matter what you order, you may be waiting for a big meal. If I come next time, I'll have to approach it with the mindset of an athletic boy. Dannebird. Thank you for the meal.
