「ベトコンラーメン」800円
様々なところで名前の由来については喧しく書かれているので、敢えて触れなくてもよいだろう。しかしながら、ベトナム戦線の猛々しさから「ベストコンディション」という何とも力のぬけた表現に大人の事情で言い換えしつつも、その愛称が人口に膾炙するのは、“ベトコン”という響きの良さにあるような気がする。いずれにせよ名古屋のご当地ラーメンとして市民権を獲得しているのは揺るぎのない事実である。
モヤシにニラ、唐辛子とともにゴロゴロとしたニンニク片をそのまま炒めたトッピング。揚げたニンニクはホクホクとして、頬ばると強烈なアリシン臭が口いっぱいに広がる。その芳ばしさを消さぬままにモヤシとニラ、麺をワシワシと咀嚼すれば、“食べるニンニク注射”のようにスタミナが漲ってくるという仕掛けだ。
確かに風邪気味や体調が優れないときに食せば、身体の中からエネルギーが満たされていくような感覚があり、「ベストコンディション」という後付けの由来も妙に納得感があるから不思議なものだ。
ラーメン好きとして敢えて言及したいのは、鶏ガラと豚骨ベースの清湯スープや、喉越しの良い細麺など、基本となるしっかりした土台があって、この個性的な上物を受け止めている所だ。だから、多くの人々がこのラーメンを飽きることなく求めてやまないのだ。
後半「尾張の生たまご（100円）」を追加し、溶き卵を全体にまわしかけてみたが、強烈な味がまろやかになり、これもまた一興だと思った。最後のスープも実においしかった。
すべからく“疲れた身体を元気づけるためのラーメン”という役目を徹頭徹尾貫いていることが清々しい。大いにパワーとスタミナをもらいました。明日からも一層頑張れる気がします！
