就職したばかりの頃、職場の先輩や同僚と一緒に訪問したグランチェスター本店へ、35年ぶりいや38年かな？当時は互いに独身だった二人で訪問しました。

店内は当時に比べて多少内装が変わっているような気がしましたが、外観はほとんど変わってません。夜遅くまで営業していることと、グランドピアノが印象に残っていますが、そのピアノの直ぐ近くの席に座りました。
当時からモーニングサービスがあったのかどうかは記憶にありません。というより毎回仕事の後、夜遅くの訪問ばかりでモーニングタイムに行ったことが無いので分かるわけないですよね(笑)
トーストは表面積は小さめですが厚みが二寸・6㎝程度の分厚さ、しっとりモチモチ美味しい食パンです。コーヒーゼリーは珈琲の酸味とゼラチンの風味から手作り感が伝わってきます。
見出しの「再発見」の意味は、勿論400円でこの品数ですから一宮市や岐阜・大垣に負けない品数という意味もありますが、一番驚いたのは「玉子サラダ」？茹で卵を潰してマヨネーズで和えたスプレッドのようなタルタルソースのような「玉子サラダ」、その風味でした。
タルタルソースに一番近い風味ですが、マヨネーズの使用量少なくソースというよりはスプレッド、それよりやっぱりサラダかな？酸味が弱く化学調味料の風味がしなかったので手作りマヨネーズに思えました。そして何よりキャベツと玉ねぎの風味がするんですが原形が見当たりません。玉子サラダが喉を通り最後に残った歯触りに野菜ピクルスの食感が残ったので野菜使用は間違いないと確信しました。
店員さんに「この玉子サラダ、タルタル風で美味しんですがキャベツと玉ねぎ入ってますか？」と尋ねると「はい、数種の野菜細かく砕いて入ってます。マヨネーズも一から手作りでお出ししております。気づいてくださり嬉しいです。ありがとうございました」と笑顔で応えて頂けました。
少々塩がきつく感じたこと、その笑顔を拝見して二の句が継げませんでした(*_*)
たかがモーニングでは無いところが凄いです。灯台下暗し、傍目八目、他市町村・他県にばかり目が行き浮気ばかりしていたこと反省させられました。
