This is the well-known "Kushikatsu Tanaka" located on the second floor of μPLAT Konan, which is attached to Meitetsu Konan Station. I had planned to go to a nearby Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) for lunch, but unfortunately it was closed, so I changed my plans to this restaurant, which is open from 12:00 on weekends. The restaurant has 6 counter seats, tables, and sunken kotatsu, for a total of 10 tables. I arrived early, around 3:30 p.m., so there were only two other groups of customers. First, I ordered a seasonal 5-piece platter with macaroni salad. The seasonal 5-piece platter consisted of kushikatsu pork, scallops, lotus root, and shishamo with roe, which was almost all crab. The crispy batter was still my favorite type, and most of the crab was probably crab sticks, but the texture was fluffy and the crab flavor was strong, so it was absolutely delicious. The shishamo with roe was plump and had a pleasant, popping texture of the egg, which was really good. I also ordered shiitake mushrooms, red pickled ginger, and Paul Wieners. Red pickled ginger is a must-have for me, and its spicy taste goes perfectly with alcohol. I enjoyed it again this time. It is open from 12:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, so I'm happy to be able to use it for daytime drinking like this time. I will use it again when I'm in a pinch. Thank you for the meal.
