A 3-minute walk from Akita Station! A popular bar where you can drink during the day too
Gran Tan has the best selection of sake in Japan. We offer a wide variety of reasonably priced Grilled skewer and deep-Fried Skewers skewers, as well as Meat Dishes and Seafood dishes such as Teppan-y |
I was staying overnight in Akita and was confident that I would find somewhere empty since I was alone, but to my surprise, all the restaurants were fully booked. I walked around five restaurants and finally found this one. (As of 2 Oct 2013, Tabelog has a rating of 3.25, Google has a rating of 3.6) It's located about a three minute walk from JR Akita Station, close to the Akita Civic Market. There is a slight step at the entrance to the restaurant, but you can easily enter. Inside, there is a stove on each table, and the space is larger than I expected, making it seem comfortable. There were only table seats. The TVs in the restaurant were playing different programs depending on the location. I sat down and was about to order when I found out that I had to order using a QR code. I immediately looked around on my smartphone. I'm the kind of person who always starts by planning my own course σ(゚∀゚ )I started with Hoppy (^ ^)/U☆U\(^ ^ )Cheers (。 ・o・)Hohoo This is not commercial Hoppy ^^b The appetizers served with the drinks were vegetables and satsumaage. The satsumaage was delicious. The vegetables were good too. As for the menu, they have most drinks, and the sake is quite strong. They also have limited edition sake from all over the country, so even locals can enjoy it. The food includes yakitori and Fried Skewers. There is also meat, fish, and vegetables that can be grilled using a tabletop stove, so there is a variety to enjoy. For starters, I chose bonito tataki from the sashimi. Well, it's a pass for this price. But what kind of level do people from Akita expect? I wondered as I ate. There were two Grilled skewer, chicken thigh and meatballs. They weren't Hinai Jidori, but both were good. The fried stuffed peppers had a rare topping of tartar sauce, but they were delicious. I had crab miso shell grilled with sake. I sipped on this as a snack. I looked around for something to finish off the meal, but couldn't find anything I liked, so I paid. [b:-Overall-] The staff were friendly and approachable. In Tokyo, many Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) with this kind of atmosphere tend to be quite cold, but Akita in Tohoku is warm. They have a good selection of food and alcohol. The sake is strong at this restaurant, so I recommend it to people who want to drink sake.
