毎年“嶽きみ”を食べに津軽を訪れています。五所川原に着いて、昼食は鮨と思っていたのですが、鮨屋が片っ端、臨時休業で、列車の時間もあって飛び込んだのが、そば処 義平です。
店の奥にサンプルケース、券売機、麺を販売する冷蔵ケースがあります。気温が35℃を超える中を歩き回ったので、冷たいそば一択「冷やしぼんじゅそば」にします。食券を渡して待っていると、半券の番号で呼ばれるセルフ方式です。
木鉢には、とろろ、天かす、山菜、葱があしらわれ、汁が徳利で添えられた、ぶっかけ式です。そばは白く透明感があり、歯触り喉越しのよいそばです。そこそこ空腹だったこともあって、一息に食べてしまいましたが、そばの余韻も心地好いです。
壁に貼られた説明を読むと、この“ぼんじゅそば”は、更科粉65：小麦粉35の生地を“津軽そば”の手法で熟成させたものだそうです。プレハブ建ての外観にすっかり惑わされましたが、結構古くから営業されている製麺所の直営店のようです。飛び込みで、こんなお店に出会えるのも旅の楽しみのひとつですね。
