I ate Toshikoshi soba.
This is the Toshikoshi Soba that I received as a free gift when I bought Osechi at Kazuyuki. Kazuyuki mainly serves Sushi, but they also usually serve soba, and even though it's a bonus, it's a solid soba. I boiled it until it was firm and it became a nice snack when I slurped it up.

Kazuyuki's osechi was arranged in three tiers, with the first and second tiers being Side Dishes, and the third tier being scattered. Traditional osechi is thought to be made with ingredients that last a long time, but this osechi also contains raw foods with a best before date of January 2nd. Some people may think it's evil, but if the essence of osechi is for everyone to enjoy it, then I think modern osechi is just as well. Personally, I was particularly impressed by the deliciousness of the crunchy herring roe and the scattered conger eel.
