A popular Iwaki restaurant opens in Matsudo!
"Dip Kitchen" is a new Indian/ Nepalese Cuisine restaurant run by the staff of "Spice Island", a popular curry restaurant in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture (opened in August 2016). We offer a wide variet |
One day while working from home, I had to do some work that I couldn't leave my desk for. Before I knew it, it was almost 2pm (TT) Damn! I didn't have anything at home that I could eat right away. (I should have stocked up on some food in case of an emergency.) If I didn't eat now, I would miss the chance to eat, and I couldn't fight on an empty stomach, so I ordered delivery. Shipping is free, but you need to order more than 1500 yen, so I ordered a little more than I could eat alone. ●One meal curry set (medium spicy vegetable curry and saffron rice) ●Chicken Sekuwa ●Masala chai (iced) Total 1650 yen including tax It was about 30 minutes later, and the delivery came as scheduled. The staff member was wearing a mask and gloves and was very nice. The curry set and chicken were piping hot. The iced chai was cold. There was so much saffron rice that I couldn't eat it all in one go! I wonder if it was freshly cooked? It had a fluffy texture that Japanese people like. The vegetables were the standard ingredients such as carrots, green beans, and potatoes. The thick sauce seems to go better with naan than rice. I ordered it medium spicy, but it was quite spicy. It helped me eat more rice. I should have ordered the "normal" level, which is one level less spicy. Apparently chicken sekuwa is known as Nepalese yakitori. It was my first time eating it, and it was definitely yakitori. It was grilled chicken thighs, seasoned with salt and cumin. But it was quite salty. I think I drank a lot of water that day... I'm glad the chai wasn't sweet. It had plenty of milk, so it was mild even without the sweetness. It's nice to be able to enjoy freshly made Indian and Nepalese Cuisine at home. Delivery is a bit expensive, but it's convenient and nice once in a while.
