福井県出身の高畠増太郎氏が、1913年（大正2年）に、早稲田大学前で創業された『ヨーロッパ軒』さんと言えば、元祖ソースカツ丼のお店として、あまりにも有名です。
有名過ぎて逆に足が遠のいてしまっているお店ですが、ソースカツ以外にも色んなメニューが有るんです。例えば、ステーキ・ハンバーグ・オムライス・オムレツ・スパゲッティ・ヤキメシ、そしてカレー等も味逢える、つまり“まちの洋食屋”さんなのです。いずれも、以外にと言ったら怒られますが、当たり前に美味しいのです。
食ベロガ－になる若い頃は、1924年（大正13年）に開業された『ヨーロッパ軒総本店』さんに何度か行きまして、ソースやケチャップの味が好みだった事もあり、ソースカツ丼以外もいろいろと味逢った記憶があります。
今回、お邪魔した『ヨーロッパ軒大和田分店』さんは、2009年に開業されましてヨーロッパ軒さんの中では新しいお店で、宿泊に選んだ『ルートイン大和田店』さんの前に位置しています。
午後8時前に突入しました。入口左側にある窓際外向きテーブル席の一番右側に陣取りました。さっそくメニューを見ますと、有難い事に総本店さんと全く同じでした。そして予定どおり“カツカレーライス”を注文しました。もうこの時間帯は一団体しかお客様はおられませんでしたので、そんなに待つこと無く登場しました。
カレールーの中に玉ねぎやひき肉が溶け込んでいる、正に洋食屋さんのレストランカレーって感じです。ヨーロッパ軒持ち味の薄めのカツは揚げ立てでサクサクしていて美味しい！！！
追記：福井県内には『ヨーロッパ軒』さんは19軒有るようです。メジャー級にはあまり興味が無い私は、今回の大和田分店さんが、まだ三軒目です。来年は敦賀店さんにお邪魔してみようかな(*^^)v
