Work in Hakata near Hakata Station. After running some errands, it's time for lunch! This time, I decided to have lunch at "Tempura Bar Kikuya" on the 2nd floor of THE BLOSSOM HAKATA Premier, next to Hakata Ward Office. We learned about this restaurant through word of mouth from Milevi. I had known about the building itself for a while, but the exterior is too stylish, with real ivy twining around the exterior walls. I thought it was too luxurious for a lunch between work hours. The time was 12:35 p.m. The only seats available were at the counter. It was a weekday, peak lunch time in the business district, and one would expect the place to be crowded, but only about 50% of the customers showed up. Lucky! (We were able to enter the restaurant without any problems. The only seating is at the counter. There are two types of seating: those with chairs and those at the counter. We decided to use the counter seats along the window. The menu is surprisingly reasonable. Especially, "Kikuya Service Ten-don (tempura rice bowl)" is priced at 660 yen including tax. My heart is greatly stirred. (@_@;) However! We decided on the "Dai-ni Anago Tenju" (regular price: 1,650 yen → a steal at 1,100 yen, tax included), which we had checked out in advance. The operation was conducted by a single man. I was enjoying the view from the second floor, but it took less than 10 minutes to serve the food. Two conger eel tempura overflowed the stack. Shishito peppers were served as garnish. The rice is coated with sauce, but the conger eel itself is still deep-fried by default. First of all, we eat it as it is. As you can see, the batter is light and crispy. This may be the best way to enjoy the light taste of conger eel, but I think it is too light for me. We poured a little bit of the tare-tsuyu (sauce prepared in a separate container) on the conger eel and enjoyed it. The crispy texture of the conger eel changed as the sauce soaked into it, and the light taste and texture of the conger eel changed accordingly. The nori (seaweed) on the rice placed under the tempura also adds a nice flavorful accent to the dish. After all, there were two conger eel tempuras. I thought I would be able to enjoy it while trying different things, but before I knew it, I had finished it. (laugh) I enjoyed it very quickly. There were many other dishes on the menu that I was interested in, such as bukkake tempura soba and tonteki set menus. It is a restaurant that makes me wish there was one near my workplace. Thank you very much for the meal.
