休みの日に出かけた帰り、新天町あたりで晩御飯とお店を物色してると「大阪王将 新天町店」さんの店頭に岡山名物、えびめし定食なる看板が。
岡山に2度住んだことがある私の琴線にビビっとくる「えびめし」に誘われて入店。
久しぶりの大阪王将さんでしたが注文はタッチパネルに変わっていたので戸惑いながら、期間限定の「えびめし定食」を注文。一緒に行った妻はスタミナ辛モツラーメンを注文。
一緒に頼んだ棒々鶏をつまみながら待つこと10分。
「えびめし定食」が到着。
あれっ？
イメージしていたえびめしとはだいぶ見た目が違う…。
えびめしは濃い目の焦茶色のご飯にプリッとした海老が一緒に炒められて錦糸卵がかかっているのがデフォルトのイメージだったんですが、なんか茶色は薄めだし、海老は天ぷらだし、そして目玉焼き…。
もしかしたら元祖のえびめしのお店からのクレーム回避のために色々と似た部分を微妙にずらした対応かもですが、正直がっくり。
味はというと茶色のチャーハン部分の味でカレー風味が強すぎ。これではえびめしというかカレーチャーハン…。
元祖のえびめし自体が渋谷のカレー屋さんの一メニューを岡山県出身の店員が受け継いで岡山で提供し始めたのがルーツなので元々のえびめし自体もカレー風味はあるのですが、これは何か違う…。
非常に残念な気持ちになりました。
妻が頼んだスタミナ辛モツラーメンは辛さが丁度良く、モツ等の具材も多く入っており、なかなか良い感じだったので余計残念でした。
