I made a reservation for the duck hotpot course and arrived at Hirao Hill by taxi at 7:30pm on Sunday. The shop was located in a corner of a separate building on the premises of the condominium that contained restaurants (like a cafe famous for carbonara). Today it seems like I have reserved one-on-one session with the landlady. A beautiful store that has only been open for less than a year (next month will be a full year). After taking a bath, I have a draft beer first. Three kinds of appetizers came out, and I was already in the mood for sake. After reading the menu carefully, we started by comparing the nigori drinks. The nigori of Shichihonyari that I drank for the first time was well-balanced and good...When I booked the course, they served me duck chawanmushi as a service. The duck soup stock was effective, and it was a must-have dish for duck and chawanmushi lovers. This is where the duck and watercress hotpot (also known as Lost Paradise hotpot) starts. Loin and thigh meat with plenty of watercress. The homemade ponzu sauce and yuzu pepper that go well with the hot pot are delicious. Personally, I felt that the fatty thigh meat and watercress went well together → I ordered thigh meat and watercress instead. Shabu-shabu the duck meat and shabu shabu, pop it into your mouth, and pour in the flavorful, well-balanced sake. A happy loop that you want to continue indefinitely. While consulting with the proprietress, we tasted Uraharushika and Cold Mifuku with lovely labels in half-glasses. The sakes from various parts of Japan were purchased according to the proprietress' preferences, and were all very well seasoned. Enjoying Japanese sake here and drinking tequila at a bar 3 minutes walk away...it was the best Sunday ever.
