A popular spot in Matsushima, Fukuoka where people gather especially for character cakes♪
"It's our anniversary, so why don't we ask Arinko about a cake?!" A house in a town that feels close to home. It's a popular spot in Matsushima, Fukuoka where you can enjoy a variety of homemade cakes |
First visit to the long-established cafe Arinko in Matsushima, Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City. It is a 10-minute walk from JR Hakozaki Station, on the corner of an alley heading towards Hakozaki Park, with the Sue River flowing next to it. It's a detached restaurant with a parking lot and a nice atmosphere. When you enter the store, the ceiling is high and bright, and there are two counters, table seats and terrace seats. The in-house coffee roasting room is partitioned off by a large window glass, but you can see it, and there are kids at the end of the counter. There are picture books in the middle of the space, making it child-friendly. The counter seats on the left side of the entrance have windows that allow you to see the outside, and the shelves behind them are stocked with miscellaneous goods that seem to be made by individual artists. There is a refrigerated showcase in front of the entrance, filled with authentic Sweets made by the second generation of former pastry chefs. This looks delicious again. I was guided to a table on the right and immediately looked at the menu. The history of Café Arinko was also written there, but it has been in business for over 40 years, and since 2011, the second generation, who was a pastry chef, has taken over the cafe, and the cafe mainly serves home-roasted Dutch coffee inherited from the previous generation and Sweets made by themselves. It seems that it has been renewed as. *The previous name of the store was Coffeekan Arinko, and when I looked at the menu again, I saw that they not only had Dutch coffee, but also juices, tea, and chai drinks. A delicious baguette sandwich. And two more interesting items: brulee roll and berry berry waffle. Of course, we also have cake sets where you can choose a cake from a refrigerated display case, and drink sets to accompany your favorite menu items. First up is Dutch coffee and berry berry waffles. Waffles with ice cream, strawberries, blueberries, and two types of sauce. The waffle itself was delicious, and the combination of sour and sweet sauce and ice cream was a nice touch. It also goes great with Dutch iced coffee, which has a strong bitterness. The brûlée roll is a roll cake topped with caramelized custard and served with vanilla ice cream and strawberries. This one has a stronger sweetness (compared to waffles) and goes perfectly with coffee. So, I also added strawberry tarts, pudding, and iced coffee from the refrigerated showcase. The strawberry tart's tart dough is crispy and delicious, and the pudding here is rich and extremely delicious! I had it with iced Dutch coffee, but really strong coffee goes well with Sweets. This time we had berry berry waffles, brûlée rolls, strawberry tarts, rich pudding made with Ajiho eggs from Nogami Poultry Farm, and hot and iced Dutch coffee, all of which were extremely delicious (^-^) Thank you for the meal. <m(_ _)m> The Dutch coffee here is brewed using cold brew, but it still has a very strong flavor, and it tastes even better when served with brown sugar. Its true value is demonstrated by pairing it with Sweets. We also recommend adding milk to make a cafe au lait. If you like strong coffee and Sweets, please try this shop if you have the chance Sweets #Fukuoka Sweets #Fukuoka cafe #Fukuoka gourmet #Dutch coffee Ramen lover Garceau
