2020年11月16日にオープンした、おそらく小倉で2番目に有名な豚まん屋(1位は「揚子江」)。元「ろくの家恵比寿」跡地。さっそく会社帰りに訪問してみたのだが、豚まん以外はことごとく売り切れ。復活したというシュウマイも食べてみたかったのだが。「温かいものと冷凍、どちらにされますか？」と聞かれたのでその場で食べようと温かいものを注文。250円+税8％。
さっそく食べてみるが、マントウ部分がフワフワで、しかもほのかに甘く、菓子のごとき味。実は「平和会館」の豚まんは初めて食べるのだが、最近リニューアルしたらしいのだが、それでこの味になったのか、はたまた以前からこんな甘い味だったのかはわからない。ちなみに値段が高いなぁと思ったが、サイズがそれ以上にデカくてコスパは良い。
餡はモッチリ豚肉と、柔らか玉ねぎがメイン。「揚子江」もだがこの玉ねぎが良いアクセント。肉汁もほどよく。大阪の「551」のようにドぎつい味でもない。優しい味。
それだけに、惜しむらくは温度がぬるすぎたこと。熱々とまでは言わないが、もう少し温度高めでないと真価は味わえなかったかと。次回は冷凍買って帰って家で蒸して食べるかな。
