今回は、”伽哩本舗 門司港レトロ店”に行ってまいりました。
焼きカレーの始まりは昭和30年代の福岡県北九州市の門司港であり、こちら門司港で有名な焼きカレーの中でも、人気のカレー屋さんです。
頂いたのは、1番人気の九州産黒毛和牛の焼きカレー。
日本一に輝いた鹿児島県産A5等級黒毛和牛を使用しているそうで、この和牛がとにかく柔らかく、ほろほろで、最高でした。
卵とチーズも一緒にじっくり煮込まれており、一緒に崩していただく味は最高の一言でした。
カレーのスパイシーさと、卵とチーズの甘みと旨味が絡み溢れ、幸せに包まれます。
また食感が、とろみが混ざってとにかく脳までとろけてしまうようなおいしさでした。
歴史的には、昔余ったカレーに卵をのせてオーブンで焼いたところ、香ばしく美味しく仕上がったため、のちに店のメニューとして出し、好評であったという逸話だそうです。
門司港は九州の最北端のため、明治から昭和にかけて国際貿易港として繁栄した港町であり、戦後昭和25年あたりから外国船、乗組員などが出入りし、洋食文化地域としていち早く発達。”焼きカレー”といった料理が誕生したそうです。
門司港に訪問した際には、絶対また訪問したい絶品焼きカレーでした。
