地平線に山の稜線が青く見えるものの、千切れたどす黒い雲はまだ低く垂れ込めていて、その大きさと厚みは、もうひと雨降らせるのに十分であるようだった。ビルディングが林立している。正面に聳え立つNISSAYビル以外の外壁はどれも一様に薄汚れてみすぼらしい。上から眺めると、屋上には空調機が並んでいて、外階段が錆びている。ビル毎に避雷針やアンテナがどんよりした空に向かって垂直に何本も屹立していた。アンテナは一体何を受信しているのだろう。無学な僕には分からないけれど、それが男性ホルモンを受信するために取り付けられた訳では無い事だけは確かである。
僕は、久留米市六ツ門町2-16第5泉屋ビル6F「上海酒家(しゃんはいしゅか)」さんでランチを食べ、窓から眼下に広がる夜の繁華街、文化街の昼をじっと眺めていた。
「本日のランチ670円」を堪能させて頂いた。牛肉の味噌炒めキャベツ添え、もやしとエリンギの和え物、白ごはん、スープ、漬け物、チョコレート二つ、というメニューだった。

ココロの声でそんな感想を漏らした。僕は特殊能力の持ち主、サトラレで無くて良かったと思う。
中華料理の雰囲気は全然せずに、普通に当たり前に美味しい食卓的なランチだ。ごはん、汁物、野菜、肉とバランスに優れている。味が良くしみた牛肉を食べられて嬉しい。魚介系のスープは雑味を感じたものの、これは色合い的にみそ汁を想像して飲んだ僕のミステイクだったかも知れない。
マシンで淹れる珈琲はセルフスタイルで無料だ。勿論、チョコレートをお伴に食後に楽しんだ。そして、西日本新聞のテレビ欄を一瞥してから、僕はエレベーターに乗り帰宅した。無事に家に辿り着くまでが、ランチだった。
