Genki Izakaya Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) offers delicious food and alcohol at reasonable prices. Conveniently located just a minute's walk from Minami-Fukushima Station, the restaurant offers spacio |
I often pass by Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) in front of Minami-Fukushima Station, and I read in the town newspaper that they have started serving lunch... I went there on the first day, but there was a line before the store opened, so I gave up and went back when things had calmed down... It seems they had a half-price sale on the first and second days. The value-for-money lunch was only 580 yen and had four different menu items: ・Chef selection Seafood Bowl (comes with soba noodles, Small dish Small dish, and coffee) ・Pork rib bowl (comes with miso soup, a side dish, and coffee) ・Ginger pork set meal (comes with the same dish) ・Fried chicken set meal (comes with the same dish) I was planning to get ginger pork and Seafood Bowl from these, but my companion decided to order the Shanghai Seafood Bowl (880 yen) which looked like it had a lot of good ingredients... (-_-;) There is also a special Seafood Bowl (1280 yen) for lunch. Both dishes come with the same garnish. By the way, the top and special top are limited to 10 servings per day. It took a while because they had different menu items, but they brought out both of our portions. The slightly small Seafood Bowl does have a little bit of salmon roe and sea urchin on it)^o^(These do not seem to be available with the regular lunch menu. The other toppings include tuna, shellfish, sweet shrimp and other Seafood which I think are above average for something under 1,000 yen. It doesn't seem like the fish is stale just because it's cheap. The mini zaru soba is really small, but when you combine it with the bowl it's a full meal, not just something extra. You can enjoy variety with a small amount. The soba noodles from noodle factories have been getting pretty good recently, so it's not bad. The ginger pork has not many vegetables as it looks. Instead, there are three large slices of meat, which is more than enough for one person. It's not tough or stringy, and is honestly delicious. It's cheap meat, but maybe it's cooked well? I think it could do with a bit more sauce. It also comes with miso soup and pickles. There are some things that are not quite enough, but for a lunch that costs just over 500 yen, it's good value for money. When you've finished, coffee is served, but it seems to be a glass coffee that can also be used for ice cream. It was thin and a little lukewarm with no taste or aroma. Tea might be better (^_^;) I guess they need to cut costs somewhere, right? As a daily value lunch for just 500 yen plus a little extra, it seems to be a perfect ally for office workers)^o^(This restaurant is run by the same chain that does interesting things like the Datsuryoku Sakaba on 13th Street in front of the station. The restaurant itself was formerly Tora Sushi, and was originally located Izakaya (Japanese-style bar).
