For dinner to close out the long weekend trip, we had Hida beef at this restaurant. I first heard about this restaurant when I saw it featured on the TV show "Onigiri Atatamemasuka" starring "Yo Oizumi." At that time, he was eating the "Hida Nattoku Pork Tomato Bowl," but I had the Hida beef version of this. We arrived at the restaurant around 6:30 PM. Is it because the night is early in local hot spring towns? Or is it because of the coronavirus in these times? There were not many people out and about, and the restaurant was sparsely populated The slightly nostalgic atmosphere of the restaurant made it feel unsettling and I felt a bit uneasy The old lady in charge of the dining area took my order Since the main dish had already been decided, I chose one more side dish In the end, I had two choices, Gifu's local gourmet dish "Tori-chan" or "Tsukemono Steak", and I chose the latter "Hida Beef Tomato Rice Bowl" This was in the form of a set meal, and came with miso soup, a large bowl, Small dish, pickles, and dessert The main dish of Hida Beef Tomato Rice Bowl was presented differently from the menu photo, but I guess that's just how it is It was a pleasant surprise to see that it contained a fair amount of Hida beef grilled with onions in a strong sauce Cubed? Randomly cut? The dish was topped with chunks of simmered tomatoes, garnished with chopped spring onions and radish sprouts as condiments, and a poached egg placed right in the middle, adding a nice colour. As expected, the meat was tender and had a strong flavour. The large bowl was Simmered dish root vegetables, Small dish was kinpira burdock, the miso soup was topped with tofu and spring onions, and the pickles were tsubo-zuke. For dessert, we had low-sugar yogurt. "Tsukemono Steak" is a local Gifu gourmet dish that is often featured on TV. It is a simple dish of Chinese cabbage pickles and eggs grilled together. It is topped with a generous amount of bonito flakes, which undoubtedly goes perfectly with soy sauce. The sourness of the pickles was just right, and it was quite light to eat. Brand beef must have the power to make you think it is delicious just by itself. The price probably varies depending on the cut, but if you want to have a quick meal in a bowl, this might be good. We try local specialties and gourmet foods from all over the country, but Gifu Prefecture really emphasizes meat, which I thought was great.
