1996年創業のスープカレー専門店『イエロー』へ。
スープカレー自体の発祥は1971年創業の「アジャンタ」と言われているが、その料理名が定義されたのは実は1993年まで待つことになる。料理が言語化された途端に、スープカレー専門店が次々に登場し、札幌の新名物として認知されるに至ります。その頃にオープンしたのがこのイエローだ。屋号と一緒に看板に掲げられる、”since1996”の文字が流行の最先端にあった自慢の数字に見えてきます。
断トツ人気No. 1は、「チキン野菜カリー」。
スープカレーの醍醐味は、辛さやトッピングを自由自在に選べること。だが、それは同時に優柔不断を悩ませるというもの。そんな人を見越してか、ご丁寧に店主お気に入りの食べ方が紹介されております。それが辛さは三番、ライスにチーズと温玉、スープに納豆のトッピングです。はい、そちらで。笑
まずはスープを一口。第一印象はクリーミーな口当たりと味わい。だが、実はココナッツミルクや豆乳などは一切使われないそう。豚骨、鶏ガラ、香味野菜を高圧釜を使用するそうで、なるほど、豚骨から鶏ガラが正体なのか。ここに魚介出汁やスパイスを加えてできたスープなのだから、それは美味いはず。そして、おすすめの納豆の粘り気がこれを強く感じる装置として機能します。スパイスを巻き込むというか。
トッピングもみんな好感度が高く、特にチキン野菜に紐づく、ブロッコリーとオクラが美味しい。やっぱり北海道の野菜は美味しいなぁ。ちなみに、その他のトッピングは、骨付き鶏もも肉、かぼちゃ、ナス、ニンジン、ヤングコーン、ピーマン、イモ、うずらの卵などで構成されます。ご馳走様です。
