自宅のある西宮は灘五郷の二つ西宮郷・今津郷を有する。他の三つを含め、宮水で醸す日本一の日本酒の産地である。有名な銘柄としては、大関、日本盛、白鹿、白鷹、松竹梅がある。
西宮を地元としているからと言って、殊更に、灘の男酒ばかり飲むものではない。伏見の女酒の「玉乃光」もかなり頻繁に飲む。地方の銘酒もそうである。だが、やはり地元の経済を支える日本の伝統産業故、その繁栄を望むことには変わりない。最近は酒造メーカーが自前の酒と共に食事を楽しめるレストランを経営しているのを時々目にするが、この地元にある白鹿クラシックスもその一つ。以前からその存在を知っており、今回の帰省の際に事前予約をして出向いた。阪神西宮駅までバスで南下し。其処からは徒歩で。結構、海側に位置する。平屋だが広々として開放感がある。テーブル席に案内されたが洒脱である。西宮に多大なる貢献をした辰馬家のセンスが品良く活かされている。フレンチを提供しても違和感がない。
頼んでいたのは、「彩り旬菜と天婦羅、握り寿司コース天婦羅盛合せ」コース。3,300円である。先付の後に、一番華やかな五種盛り合わせが出されるのが、肝心な写真を撮り忘れた。痛恨である。その後、天婦羅が供される。関西で天ぷらを食べることはあまりないのだが、薄衣でさっくりとしている。当たり前だが、日本酒に合う様な料理を出す訳だが、本当にその通りであり日本酒は都合3合程、この際には飲んだ。昼間に飲む量としては少し多いが・・・
締めは握り寿司とあるが、十割蕎麦でも良い。細君、共々、蕎麦を選ぶ。締めにシャーベットを食べて頗る満足だった。もう少し早く訪れるべきだったと思った程である。
会計を済ませ、隣にあるミュージアムショップで此処でしか買えないものの四合瓶を一つ買った。東京に戻る前に別のものを飲んでいたので、これは家にそのまま置いている。新年に飲むことになろう。その後、えべっさんにお参りをして、阪神百貨店で夕食の食材を求めて家に戻った。
