水戸から少し離れ、涸沼の湖畔に佇むうなぎとしじみ汁を堪能させてくれるうなぎやさんに訪問。
茨城で仕事をしていた頃には、新年会はここを貸し切ってやっていた、思い出があるお店である。
ここの1番は何と言ってもしじみ汁。
汽水域で育った涸沼のしじみを軽い塩味だけで頂くのだが、しじみの本来持つ出しが身体中に染み渡っていく名品である。
今日も通常のしじみ汁を200円追加して大盛りにしてもらい、貝の風味をたくさん頂く事ができた。
魚介があまり好きではない人でも、すっと飲めてしまう、不思議な旨みである。
うなぎはふっくらと炭焼きをし、余分な脂を取り去り、味で誤魔化すような濃いタレではなく、サラリとしたタレをつけ焼きする事でうなぎの質感や小骨が歯にあたり、砕けていくその様を脳天に打ち込む。
場所柄、水戸から離れている為、人は居ないかと思いきや、水戸やつくばだけでなく千葉、練馬、いわきなど県外のナンバーが。
結局、入店してから20分程度で満席に。
まさに、味は嘘をつかない。
