[Travel Edition ~ Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture ~] I came to Mito. Every year, I visit Kairakuen at the end of February to see the plum blossoms. I usually go there for a day trip, but this time I'll stay for two nights. I'll introduce some restaurants that made an impression on me in Mito. First, Taizan. I went there around 6:15pm on a weekday. There was no one in the restaurant. I was shown to the counter, but the chairs were very uncomfortable to sit on. I ordered Fried Chicken Cold Noodles (Yulinchi Liangmen). This dish is fried chicken with a sweet and sour fragrant sauce on top of the noodles. When it arrived, the portion was very large. The chicken on top was so big that I thought it might be a whole thigh. Let's try it. The chicken was deep fried. The batter on the outside had a crunchy texture. It may have been fried twice. The fragrant sauce was sweet and sour, but not too sour. The sourness is easy to eat even for those who don't like sour food. Thanks to the light and flavorful sauce, it's easy to eat even though it's Fried food. The noodles have a texture similar to that of chilled Chinese noodles. They are smooth and easy to swallow. The portion looked very large, but even a woman like me was able to finish it all. I think this is because the chicken was thinner than I expected, and the noodles were smooth instead of rice. I think this restaurant is positioned as a high-quality local Chinese restaurant. So, although it is a Chinese Cuisine restaurant, they have a menu that you can finish by yourself. Therefore, it's fine even if you go alone like me.
