"Shunka Kenbi: For me, cooking is life" - Chef Miyuki Igarashi
Located on the grounds of Art Tower Mito, beloved by the people of Mito, the Chinese restaurant CHINA TERRACE GOKEN overlooks the 100m-tall tower. The cuisine is supervised by Miyuki Igarashi, the own |
I had lunch at a high-end Chinese Cuisine on the grounds of the Mito Art Museum. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of space between the seats, and the seats by the windows are round, creating a nice atmosphere. I ordered Mirai Pork's Black Sweet and Sour Pork for 2,000 yen, which is a weekly special at China Terrace, and my companion ordered China Terrace's standard menu item, Gomoku Ankake Yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) with Soy Sauce. Both meals came with a pod of jasmine tea, a platter of three appetizers, Dim sum, dim sum, and dessert, and the Black Sweet and Sour Pork also came with soup and a mini mapo tofu. The jasmine tea was always heated with solid fuel, and you could add more hot water, so it was good, including the taste. The three appetizers were spicy boiled eggplant, sweet potato, pepper salad, and bonito with basil flavor, but the bonito was quite fishy and disappointing. The salad had a slightly unusual French cuisine dressing, but it was delicious. Dim sum was steamed fried tofu stuffed with shumai fillings, which was good. The main course, sweet and sour pork, had three large pieces of pork, fried peas, pumpkin, etc., and the flavor of black vinegar was quite strong, so I choked at first, but it was delicious. The mapo tofu was quite spicy with a chili pepper flavor, and the soup was an egg soup, which is a standard Chinese Cuisine restaurant taste, but it was delicious. My companion said that the gomoku ankake noodles had a good balance of the aroma of the grilled noodles and the flavor of the ankake, and were delicious. For dessert, we had sesame balls and almond tofu, and the sesame balls were freshly fried, and the almond tofu was also delicately seasoned, which was good.
