2020年12月のとある土曜日の19時過ぎに訪ねた。
水戸駅を出て徒歩5分ほどの場所にある「串屋 晴」。友人夫婦に予約をしてもらって訪問。
2階建ての居酒屋。2階に上がって座敷にて4人で食事をする。
まずは「ザ・モルツ（生）」¥500で喉を潤す。
お通しにはマグロカツがやって来る。非常に良い味でこの店の料理の良さが伝わった。
常陸牛串焼き ¥680×2：茨城名産の常陸牛を串で食べる。ジューシーで旨味の溢れる牛肉を楽しむ。ビールに合う。
おしんこ ¥380：漬物が4種が盛り込まれているこの店のおしんこ。380円とは思えない満足度。
えいひれの炙り ¥530：柔らかくて食べやすいえいひれの炙り。一味唐辛子とマヨネーズと共に食べるのが良い。ビールから「本日の純米セット」¥880に切り替えてえいひれを楽しむ。
あげぎんなん ¥500：たまに食べたくなるあげぎんなん。季節の一品ということで注文。日本酒と共に食べるには良い。
串焼（つくば鶏）十本セット ¥2,000：つくば鶏の何と美味しいことか。この店で食べるべきはこの串焼である。タレと塩で5本ずつというのも嬉しい。つくねはジューシーで見事な味わい。砂肝もクセが無くて心地好い食感。手羽先は鶏肉の美味しさが伝わってくる。大満足の串の盛り合せ。
平目 ¥980：身の引き締まった平目の刺身。平目自体の質も良いが、ちゃんと処理がなされているからこそこの美味しい刺身が味わえる。茨城の地酒が楽しめる「本日の呑んだらいかっぺセット」¥880と共に満喫する。
トロたく ¥850：鶏肉だけでなく、海鮮もちゃんと美味しい店のトロたく。米のクオリティも込みで美味しい一品。
美明豚の野菜串巻き（全部のせ） ¥1,200：茨城のブランド豚である美明豚をみょうが、甘唐がらし、トマト、アスパラガス、柔甘ネギに巻いた串焼き。野菜の美味しさジューシーな豚肉の旨味を満喫できる。トマトとクセの無い豚肉の旨味が良いバランスであった。
料理の美味しい居酒屋であった。特に焼鳥が見事なクオリティ。
店の感じはカジュアルな居酒屋だったが、素材の良さと接客を楽しめた水戸の良い店。鶏、牛のすき焼きも楽しめるようなので、次回訪ねるタイミングがあれば是非食べてみたい。
