大洗にあるエスニック百名店。
平日の19時半頃の来店。
日本語がほぼわからない現地人と、初老の男性でオペレーションをしている店。
店内では現地の調味料も雑然と陳列され沢山販売されている。
メニューは多彩で、日本人向けのアレンジは無さそうな感じ。
そしてどれも激安。
オーダーはガパウムー【850円】。
ガパオライスは日本人向けにアレンジされたメニューだが、この店はガパウガイ、ガパウムーの本格的な名称である。
現地の言葉で、ガパオ＝ホーリーバジル、ムー＝豚肉を意味する。
オーダーすると、程なくして着丼。
胡瓜が添えられ、ライスに目玉焼きと、パプリカとニンニクの芽と豚肉の炒めものに香辛料がたっぷり乗った食慾をそそる出で立ち。
ひと口食べると、かなり甘辛い。
調味料は醤油と砂糖だろうか。
辛さの中にも肉の旨みが詰まっており、ジャポニカ米っぽいが不思議な食感のライスと共に食べると超絶に美味い。
ハーブの風味、タイ産の唐辛子がバッチリ効いていて、これぞエスニック料理の真髄といった感じ。
ボリュームもたっぷりで大満足。
