ワンコ可ということで行ってみました。事前に予約をした際に、ステーキとタイ料理という触れ込みに違和感を感じていましたが、土浦-学園線を西に走って、自動車研の前の信号の次の、ジョイフル山新へ右折する信号を左折して、すぐを右折した右側にありました。お店の中は何となくウエスタン風の造りですが、調度はエスニックというかアジアンというか、不思議な取り合わせでした。犬連れといっても、テラス席だけでなく室内のテーブルでも可ということで、室内で予約したテーブルに案内されると「ワンちゃん用にどうぞ」といって、人間にだけでなくワンコにもお冷やをくれた。我が家のワンコが床で水を飲んでいる隙に、160gハンバーグと100gステーキのセットを注文しました。ドリンクは車を運転している僕はコーヒーをたのみましたが、家内は心置きなく生ビール。懐かしいステーキハウスのような鉄板にのった料理が運ばれてきましたが、思ったより細かく切り分けられた100gのステーキは見た目にも少ない感じでしたが、ハンバーグはデミグラスソースがたっぷりかかった洋食屋のハンバーグではなく、鉄板焼き屋のハンバーグといった感じの合い挽き肉の塊をジュージュー焼いた感満載の、見た目にも美味しそうなお品でした。付け合わせの温泉玉子風の半熟玉子にディップするも良し、薄ピンクの岩塩と胡椒も美味しそうです。家内はバーベキューソースを、僕はオニオンソースをたのんであったので、それぞれで試しましたが、我が家の意見は満場一致でオニオンソースでした。肉の脂に甘みがあるので、バーベキューソースの甘味よりもオニオンソースの辛みの方が肉の旨味を引き立ててくれる感じがしました。ステーキは塩・胡椒で頂きましたが、柔らかくても噛み応えがあり、見た目には薄くても焼き肉とは違った「肉を食べている」高揚感を味わえました。ステーキもハンバーグもお値段以上に美味しいと感じましたが、お金さえ厭わなければ、美味しいステーキはどこでも頂けそうですが、常陸牛とつくば美豚の合い挽き肉のハンバーグをデミグラスソースではなく頂けることに、このお店の価値がありそうです。駅からは遠いので、ビールやワインを飲めなくても文句を言わない運転手が確保できれば、一度来てみることをお勧めします。もちろん、ワンコ同伴も可だそうですので、万博記念公園でのお散歩とセットでワンコ連れもお勧めです。
