[Kaga cuisine delivered directly from Nanao Port] selection fun conversation from the friendly owner and seasonal Kanazawa kappo cuisine!
The carefully prepared kappo cuisine, using fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan and carefully selected local ingredients from Kanazawa, is a masterpiece that can only be found in Kanazawa. Enjoy it wi |
Located a little ways from the main street of Korinbo, one of the busiest areas in Kanazawa, this small restaurant has been open for about 40 years on Seseragi-dori, the border between Nagamachi and Korinbo. I had always wanted to go here when I went to Kanazawa, but I hadn't made any plans until the last minute and hadn't made a reservation. I was worried that the restaurant would be open because of the bad weather and snowstorm, so I called to make a reservation and they welcomed me. Basically, they don't have a menu, but they offer three types of selection courses of seasonal fresh fish and Kaga Local Cuisine. Boiled cod roe Boiled plum Simmered dish sashimi platter Megisu fish balls Rice eggplant dengaku Deep-fried crab shell Hairy box crab Deep-fried shrimp (I forgot what type of shrimp) Dessert Cold sake (1 bottle) The moment I took a bite of the first dish, boiled cod roe, which was even more refined and mildly seasoned than the home-cooked version, I knew this restaurant was delicious. The sashimi platter was thick but bite-sized, perfect for one person, and I was happy to see the thoughtfulness of the staff to offer a wide variety. I particularly liked the megisu fish balls, which were not only delicious with their gentle seasoning, but were also minced with the bones, so the texture of the soft minced meat and the bones was amazing. The large rice eggplant was fluffy, and the sweetness of the miso and the freshness of the citrus spread throughout my mouth, making it the perfect snack to go with my alcohol. While we were talking about what would be delicious and typical of Kanazawa at this time of year, they brought out some hairy crab. It was a little small, but the sticky, rich flavor of the inner roe and the crunchy outer roe were delicious. The chef and the landlady were very talkative, so it was fun to drink alone. All the dishes were delicious and the portions were also very satisfying, and although I had planned to go to several other places, I ended up stopping here (lol). I wondered if this price was okay for both the alcohol and the crab, and headed to the hotel in the snowstorm.
