I invited my family to try it out: Return to Katamachi
This will be a bit long, so please take a break while reading. The first day of our whirlwind tour of Kanazawa, which started with a random suggestion from my family. We took the train to Kanazawa in the afternoon, and arrived at the beginning of a dazzling sunset. After taking a rest at the hotel, we headed straight to this restaurant. Actually, this is the second time we visited this restaurant, which we visited last year. Last time, the restaurant's food and my companion's requirements were met, so I hope that will be the case again this time. We sat in the same tatami room as before, and had a drink before proceeding with our order. First, the appetizer. This time, it was a set of pickled small fish and boiled greens. The sourness was just right, but for some reason my companion didn't eat it this time. The weather seemed a bit suspicious, so we decided to order something good anyway. Next, we ordered steamed clams in sake. I can't eat shellfish liver or milt, so I skipped this one. My companion also liked the fact that he had never seen such large clams before. Next was the assorted sashimi. It was a three-person portion, so it was a colorful and fun dish to look at. I had taken pictures of the previous dishes, but I took pictures of this dish after I had started eating it, so it looks a little small in the picture. Next, I ordered a green salad of Kaga vegetables, but my companion didn't eat it, perhaps because of the appearance, and I munched on it by myself. On the other hand, when the next dish, grilled Anglerfish milt, arrived, my companion munched on it. It was a little salty, so... He said, but ate it with gusto. However, from this point on, the orders seemed to slow down a little... It took about 15 minutes for the steamed clams in sake and namero to arrive. Then a customer who I think was a college student who came in later got drunk and started having fun. I was fine, but my companion's anger meter was about to go off the rails. So I canceled some of the items I had ordered and rushed them to get the items as soon as possible. To be honest, the delicious items came, but I couldn't really taste them, so I munched on them quickly so as not to erupt the active volcano in front of me. However, it was already too late, as my companion was upset that the items he had ordered had not arrived and Fried food had not arrived, but he could no longer bear it and immediately demanded the bill as soon as the rolled omelet arrived. I quickly ate the hot rolled omelet like a comedian doing an oden game, shoveling it all in and then went to pay the bill. Even though I may not have been a good match with the customer, I was apologizing in my heart for my overbearing behavior and thinking to myself that next time I would come to this restaurant by myself and have a relaxing drink. That was my night in Kanazawa.

A restaurant that boasts seasonal Kaga vegetables and fresh seafood
The restaurant is proud of its dishes made with seasonal Kaga vegetables and fresh seafood landed at Kanazawa Port, but it is especially known for its lotus root dishes, which are also the subject of |
This is going to be a long read, so please take a break from time to time. Also, because it's a long read, I'll introduce the last restaurant first. Please bear with me. In conclusion, it was the best. Although it takes a while to serve the food, I feel that it is a restaurant that mainly caters to drinkers, considering the restaurant. Also, I would like you to try the lotus root series, which is the restaurant's signature menu. If you are going alone, make sure to make a reservation in advance. So, although this is full of personal impressions, I hope you will read it. I visited Kanazawa in the peak season to see the cherry blossoms and do some yuzen dyeing, and today is the last day of the evening session. I came to this restaurant with a friend before, and this time I would like to drink slowly. That said, the downside is that I get drunk with just one glass of chuhai... In a sense, this visit is mainly to apologize for the inconvenience I caused you last time, so I will try to order as expensive items as possible. First, I eat the usual appetizer and then order immediately. I will start with the local fish with kombu-jime. The moderate saltiness and umami of the kelp make it easy to eat, and it has just the right amount of texture, so you'll want to order it again. Next came the namero. I'm writing this late, so I don't remember the type of fish, but it was light and delicious, with the miso flavor coming through, and I finished it in no time. The next best thing was the Kaga vegetable salad, which was full of local Ishikawa vegetables, but it wasn't bitter, and when combined with the dressing, it was refreshing. Fried food that I ordered beforehand arrived at this point. They overlap, but the Kaga vegetable Tempura and seasonal firefly Tempura slip in. However, it was a busy time, so the arrival itself was about the same as my previous visit, and it took about 15 minutes from ordering. This time, I ordered a double Tempura, so the restaurant was considerate enough to serve a slightly smaller amount, which makes it a special order, and if it wasn't for me, I might have complained along the way. But that doesn't matter to me, as long as it's delicious, I don't mind if it takes a while. First, we started with the vegetable Tempura that had arrived. It had a nice crisp texture, and the oil was well drained, so it was delicious to eat without worrying about it. The tempura sauce was not Tempura, but rather a perfect match for the tempura. Next, we munched on the seasonal firefly Tempura. Perhaps because they used fresh ingredients, it had no bitterness, but rather a sweet taste, and it was easy to eat as it seemed to have removed the eyes and beak. This is a dish that makes us think we should have ordered more. After finishing both, we took a short break and started chatting with the person next to us, with whom we had somehow gotten along well since arriving, and then ordered our next dish. Next, we ordered lotus root Croquette from the "lotus root series," which is the main menu of this restaurant. We ordered additional dishes and waited for about 10 minutes, chatting as we went. Croquette arrived as expected, and the lotus root was already visible on the cut surface, which looked a little premature. The cut surface was also the white-gray color characteristic of lotus root, and it looked very self-assertive, as if it was lotus root. First, I took a bite. As expected, the taste of the lotus root came first, and the meatball-like body brought a fluffy texture. Delicious! Next, I dipped it in the sauce that came with it and ate it. This was also delicious! The sweetness of the sauce combined with the saltiness of the lotus root made this a very tasty dish. I was impressed by the deliciousness of the lotus root, and then the spring roll platter I ordered before came. This also contained lotus root, and the last time I ate it, I was in a hurry, so I didn't taste much of it, but this time I ate it and savored it. The lotus root spring rolls had a crisp texture of the lotus root and the umami of the other ingredients, making me want another one. The other Seafood cream was more of a cream flavor than Seafood, so it would go well with alcohol. I was getting full after eating this much, so I ordered the last item that caught my eye. The item was called "Duck and lotus root grilled in a sandwich." This also took a while to prepare, but it was understandable why it took so long. It looked a little different from what you would get at Izakaya (Japanese-style bar), with a Western-style appearance. The duck has no bad smell and the taste is delicious with a chewy texture and lotus root. The sauce is a little bitter, which goes perfectly with the rich flavor of the duck. I was full after eating this dish, so I took a short break before paying. It was quite expensive, but it was a satisfying night in Katamachi because I had delicious food and a relaxed time.
