This was my first visit to Gyukaku. It was dinner during a business trip. I was alone but wanted to eat a variety of things, so I ordered half-size. I ordered Kuroge Wagyu beef ribs, top-grade innards with salt sauce, and Yagen cartilage with salt sauce. All half-size. The photos on the menu made it look like it was quite filling, but in reality it was a small amount. The Kuroge Wagyu beef ribs were thin, and the top-grade innards took two bites to finish. I took a photo with my iPhone so you can see the size. The Caesar salad I ordered as an extra was also half-size. The dressing was spicy and had a unique flavor. It was so spicy that I couldn't help but think that they added the wrong amount of black pepper. The hot pepper flavor and garlic-like aftertaste lingered in my mouth even after the meal, and it lasted for about an hour. I washed my palate with a yogurt drink I bought at a drugstore. I also ordered rice and paid 2,255 yen. The half-size would have been expensive, so perhaps I would have been more satisfied if I had ordered a small portion of the regular size? I should have visited Yakiniku (Grilled meat) Nabeshima, which was right next door...
