A short walk from Kamakura Station, Bistro Ampersand is a restaurant serving cocotte dishes and Organic Food wine. My friend who went with me had been there before. I think it's run by a married couple. It's a small, cozy restaurant with a warm atmosphere. This time I chose the Lunch course. ■Baguette First, a baguette topped with cold cauliflower puree. ■Assorted 5-kind appetizer Next, a variety of colorful and beautiful appetizers... Farm-style terrine of seasonal vegetables from Miura, Kamakura, smoked swordfish, pate de campagne, chicken chicken dish and cheese terrine, and ankimo and radish terrine. Ampersand mainly uses local brand "Kamakura vegetables". Each dish has its own unique character. I was particularly impressed with the ankimo. It would go perfectly with Organic Food wine. (This time, I had a soft drink because I was on a bicycle.) ■Cocotte-baked tuna and Kamakura vegetables The main dish was shared between the two of us. Tenderly flavored tuna and large cut Kamakura vegetables. ■Pot-au-feu with Kamakura vegetables and pork Simple is best... This is good... no, this is the best... This pot-au-feu makes full use of the ingredients, and is perfect for this season. The soft pork also brings together a gentle flavor. ■Chestnut creme caramel with soy sauce ice cream The chestnut pudding has a slightly bitter caramel flavor that is perfect for autumn. The accent of the soy sauce ice cream is also well-balanced. ■Rich chocolate with caramel ice cream We were so comfortable that we forgot to move on to the next place, and ended up staying for two hours with delicious food and lively conversation (apologies to the restaurant). If it was in my neighborhood, Bistro I would definitely like to be a regular at. It's also great for casual "date meals."
