土曜19時半、予約の上来訪。2階のテーブル席へ。肉を食べよう！と決めていたので、カベルネのボトル、リブアイの8oz、ポークリブレギュラー、野菜焼き、クラムチャウダーを注文。
ワインを飲みながら待って、クラムチャウダー10分、野菜とポークリブ15分、リブアイ20分で到着。
アメリカンスタイルで塩味などはバッチリ決まっていながら、やさしく丁寧な仕上がりで雑さのない風合いでした。
クラムチャウダーはベーコンとあさりもふんだんに入っていて、でもしつこくなく頂けました。
野菜焼きは、玉ねぎ、なす、パプリカ、アスパラ、ズッキーニ、ポテトの炭火グリルでバルサミコをあしらっています。肉の罪悪感を消し去るだけでなく、野菜そのものの甘さ力強さを味わえます。
ポークリブは肉の部分がたくさんあって、少しピリ辛なBBQソースはビールにもワインにもよく合いそうです。
リブアイは炭火の香ばしさとお肉のジューシーさを兼ね備えていて、カベルネでもジンファンデルでも合わせられると思いました。
両方についているフレンチフライとインゲンも侮れないサイドでそれぞれ一品料理として成立すると感じました。
BGMもハノイロックスなど往年のカリフォルニアを感じさせるもので、でも全体の雰囲気はどこかほっとできるような親密さもあります。
次回はスライダーやガンボなど色々な楽しみ方も試したいと思います。ごちそうさまでした。
