Today's lunch is IDOBATA near Futako-Shinchi Station in Kawasaki City! I've been curious about this shop for a while now. From the outside, it looks like a general store, a Gelato shop, or a cafe? It's a shop that I don't really understand. However, the antique-style miscellaneous goods and furniture that can be seen from the outside look interesting, but I've never been there for several years. When I entered the shop, the chairs and tables had price tags on them, and it felt like a furniture store that you might find in Jiyugaoka was running a cafe. When I looked at the lunch menu, it seemed like the main dish was Pancakes-like food called "Dutch Baby". What was that? I googled it, and according to it... Dutch Baby is a German-style Pancakes baked in an oven using a skillet (iron frying pan). By baking the dough with plenty of eggs in the oven, the outside is crispy and the inside is chewy. It's a new type of Sweets that lets you enjoy both choux pastry and Crepes dough at the same time. Today's order ⭐︎ Dutch baby lunch I chose the Croque Monsieur Dutch Baby, which came with salad, drink, mini Gelato and cookie. 1,650 yen including tax Price-wise it's a bit on the steep side for Futako-Shinchi, but I think it would be more reasonable for somewhere around Jiyugaoka. However, eggs, which are said to be the best in terms of price, have apparently gone up in price recently due to the effects of bird flu, and there have also been news reports about Ramen shops being unable to serve seasoned eggs, a staple, due to a lack of eggs, so I guess it can't be helped. As for the taste, the Dutch baby was just as delicious as usual. It wasn't very powdery, and was almost like an egg batter, so there was no guilt involved. Today's mini Gelato was explained to be zuccotto, but it wasn't the zuccotto (hat) I imagined, it was milk Gelato with chocolate chips added.
