1955年創業。東京で革命を起こした本場熊本ラーメン。
豚骨スープを使い、「マー油」でアクセントを加える熊本ラーメンの元祖を作った老舗「桂花ラーメン」。1955年創業後、1968年に東京新宿末広店をオープン。 |
20代の頃に友人に｢面白いラーメンがあるんだよ｣と連れて行ってもらったのが新宿にある桂花さんでした。香ばしいスープに生キャベツにデカい角煮に驚きつつも美味しくて感動したのを今も憶えています。
それから幾度となく首都圏の桂花で食べていますが、今回初めて本店に行けたのです。熊本城のすぐ近くの繁華街、いや飲み屋街の中にある桂花の看板を見た時は「ここがあの桂花の本店か」と何だか感慨深いものがありました。
入口の券売機で自分は太肉麺、連れは桂花ラーメンの小盛の「こけいか」をポチッとやると店員さんが水のコップを置いてくれていたテーブル席へ。中はテーブル席とカウンター席がある広めのつくりです。まもなく出て来たのはいつもの迫力あるビジュアルの太肉麺、濃い味でホロホロの豚角煮に生キャベツが良く合い香ばしいスープも健在の美味しい一杯。ここが本店だと思うと尚更美味しく感じます。平日昼時だったのでサラリーマンが次々と来店して店員さん大忙しでしたが、外国人の店員さん含め皆さんテキパキと動いてスムーズなオペレーションとなっていました。
本店に来れて嬉しかったですよ。
