九州地鶏の天草大王を食べる機会をうかがっていました。
熊本城を観光したら、最寄りの飲食・土産物街「桜の小径」に天草大王の唐揚（5個入り500円）を提供するお店を見つけ、テイクアウトすることにしました。
テーマパークのような街で、熊本城とセットで若者や家族連れが多く訪れていました。
入ったお店はビュッフェレストランで、サラダがとても美味しそうでしたが、先を急ぐので我慢。天草大王の唐揚げは注文してから揚げてくれます。5分ほど店内で待ちました。広々して清潔な雰囲気の店です。
店の外のベンチでいただくことにしました。
衣が軽く、薄味で食べやすかったです。皮の脂の旨味が、普通の鶏肉よりも強めでした。でも身は少しパサついていたかな。
この街では他に赤牛の串焼き（300円）も食べました。こちらも脂の香が良かったです。食べ歩きに楽しい街です。
