ふと、普段行かないような店にも行ってみようかと思い、一人で昼食に来店。
学生時代（約20年前）、四条河原町付近にあったXuanというベトナムフレンチ（現在は北白川に移転されている様子）が好きで、度々利用していた。当時はおしゃれなベトナム料理屋というのが斬新だった記憶がある。
しばらく食べていないので思い出せないが、ベトナム料理ってパクチー入るんだろうか、苦手なんです。注文のときに聞いて、入るなら抜いてもらおう。
場所は、運転免許更新センターの2階、というかヨドバシの北隣といったほうがわかりやすいだろうか。
バインミーサンドイッチとハーフフォー（牛）、1200円（税込み）に決めた。入店すると席に案内され、そちらのQRコードを読んで注文して下さい、と言われる。そういうパターンか、後から入ったお一人お爺さんにも同じように伝えているが、大丈夫だろうかと心配になる。そのお爺さんは全くスマホを手に取ることなく口頭で注文して、店員さんも何も言わずに受けていたから、それでもいいみたい。
品が到着してから気づく。あ、スマホ注文だからパクチー聞けなかった。
バインミーサンドはサクサクですごい歯触りがよく美味しい、と思ったのも束の間、パクチー満載でした。結局お箸でパクチーを取り除いて食べることに。フォーも美味しかったのですが、添えてあった薬味を何も考えずに途中で入れると、どうもパクチーが入っていたみたいで、悪い意味での味変になってしまったが、全部いただきました。
パクチー残してゴメンなさい。確認しなかった自分の責任ですが、スマホ注文が落とし穴でした。
