大阪に限らず関西に行くと必ず一度は食べるべきなのが551の豚まん。いくら好きでも東京のデパート催事で超長時間並んで買う気にはなれません。今回の一泊二日の京都旅行でも二日目の夕方に食べに伺いました。
訪問したのは四条河原町にある高島屋B1の店舗。京都駅のJR伊勢丹にも店舗がありますが、そちらに比べればだいぶ空いているのがこちらにした理由です。
15時半過ぎの訪問でしたが、併設のイートインコーナーを覗くと半分くらいの入り。店員さんに伺うと豚まんだけでも大丈夫と言うので空いている席に着きました。
テイクアウトして屋上広場で食べる選択肢も考えていましたが、豚まん持ってエレベーターやエスカレーター乗るのは気が進まないし、何より蒸かしたてを食べられるのがありがたい。
イートインでの豚まん単品はテイクアウトより80円高い一個290円。でも小皿の醤油も使えるし、周囲に気を使う必要もありません。それに味を考えたら十分リーズナブルです。
約5分ほどで届けられた豚まんはやっぱり旨い。恵比寿の東京豚まんも美味しいけれど、やはり豚まんは関西で食べるのが一番です。
こちらを含め京都の店舗ではチルドの豚まんがないのでテイクアウトして東京に持って帰れないのが惜しいところ。代わりにふわふわな食感が特徴的な「甘酢団子」買って帰りましたが、そちらも美味しく頂きました。
