This was my first visit to the main branch of Hakkian, a restaurant famous for its Chicken Cuisine that also has branches in the Kanto region. Winter is all about duck Sukiyaki, so I made a reservation for the duck sukiyaki course through Tabelog. ▪️Cooking/Taste We had a duck suki course for 2 people for 11,000 yen including tax and various alcoholic beverages, and the total cost including service charge was about 34,000 yen. The menu is: Bird soup → Side dish → Hassun → Steamed chicken → Duck Sukiyaki → Dessert As you can see in the photo, this is a truly amazing duck Sukiyaki that is enough for two people. In reality, it's called Kamo Sukiyaki, but in the Kanto style, it's more like Kamonabe. In this state, slowly light the fire on the tabletop. As the duck continues to simmer, the vegetables inside will soften and the "mountain" of the duck will gradually become lower. When you do this, the pieces of duck meat are arranged in such a way that they gradually cook in order, so you eat them one by one starting from the place where they are cooked. Mr. Nakai said, ``Please eat the duck as is, without changing its position,'' and the layout is cleverly arranged to prevent the duck from cooking all at once. If duck meat is overcooked, it will quickly become tough, so this method is used to cook it in order. As expected. With this much duck meat on the plate, you can't eat it all at once, so that's something that has been taken into consideration. The soup is full of flavor and has a clear soup with no taste. Therefore, you can enjoy this much duck meat without getting bored at all. ▪️Service/Atmosphere The location is great. Just above the Keihan Railway Jingu Marutamachi Station, just beside the Kamogawa River on Marutamachi Street. The store was renovated about two years ago, so I was able to use the new private room. You can enjoy the ultimate duck Sukiyaki in a tranquil setting at a splendid low table made of a single board. The front garden can be seen from the window, creating an elegant atmosphere unique to Kyoto. Hakian's service is as polite and pleasant as its reputation. Mr. Nakai basically checks Sukiyaki, so all you have to do is do what he tells you to do.
