京都で1986年創業。昭和から続く貴重な南インド料理店。
「インド料理ケララ」
今でも東京と比べれば南インド料理が浸透しきっていない関西で35年もの間頑張っていることに頭が下がります。
店名はもちろん南インド・ケララ州から。
けれどメニューはケララ料理に特化しているわけではなく、南インド全般のカレーに、インド料理定番のタンドール料理も取り揃え。
南北にこだわらない気分でインド料理を楽しむこともできます。
窓際にはテーブルヤシ。
ケララ州の語源は「椰子が茂る土地」ですから、まさにピッタリですね。
この日はディナータイム、ラストオーダーギリギリでの滑り込み。
軽くいただける南インドの軽食をオーダーしました。
★マサラドーサ¥1200
ドーサはいわば米粉のクレープ。そこに具材としてポテトマサラを詰めたのがこのマサラドーサ。
17時から提供のメニューとなっています。
薄く、パリッと、香ばしく焼かれた生地はまさにわたし好み。
付け合わせのサンバルには味がしっかり沁みたズッキーニが。
手作り感あるココナッツチャトニも爽やかです。
そして中の具材となるポテトマサラ。
これがパサッとモタッとして重たいお店も多いのですが、ここのは違いました。
ジャガイモもマッシュというより角切りで、フレッシュで爽やか。
うん、これは良いですね。
ドーサを出す店自体、関西ではそう多くなく、
（私的関西ナンバーワンドーサを提供していた神戸「マドラスキッチン」も閉店したことですし・・・）
この「ケララ」のドーサは非常に貴重な本格ドーサといえるでしょう。
食後はデザートをば。
★クルフィ¥450
インドのアイスともいわれるクルフィ。生クリームや卵を使わず、牛乳やスパイス、砂糖（もしくは練乳）を煮詰めたものですが、こちらは黒糖の濃厚な甘みが際立っています。
こちらも大変好みなクルフィ。
★マサラチャイ¥400
チャイは砂糖を自ら入れるタイプ。
甘いクルフィに合わせ砂糖控えめでいただきました。
昨今の南インド料理店のように華やかなミールスなんかは無いけれど、
確かな技術と信頼感に裏打ちされた素晴らしい料理をいただくことができました。
京都の宝ですね。
