PR for restaurants |
A quiet residential area lined with Kyoto townhouses. Rokkaku Muromachi.
We offer a course meal based on the concept of "eat happily, be healthy, beautiful, and happy." Through dialogue with the ingredients, such as our classic "garden-style salad hors d'oeuvre" made with |
Our nth wedding anniversary was at La Porte de Verite in Rokkaku-dori, Kyoto, right in the middle of French cuisine Week, and our wedding anniversary falls on Constitution Memorial Day (May 3rd). We didn't have any particular plans for Golden Week this year, so we decided to go somewhere delicious. My husband wanted to see the special exhibition "Zen - Putting the Mind into Shape" that was being held at the Kyoto National Museum, and I happened to see a news report on the special exhibition of cultural properties not open to the public in spring 2016 in Kyoto on TV, and I thought it might be a place I'd like to go to, so we decided to go to Kyoto! Unfortunately, the weather forecast for that day was rain in the evening. I didn't want to travel in the rain, so I changed my original plan to dinner and decided to go for lunch instead, and since our destinations were far apart, I went by train (I could drink alcohol on the train). I often use Ikyu.com to book hotels and Restaurants, and picked out places that I thought would be available on the day I wanted to go, while also considering access from the Kyoto National Museum. I also looked up reviews on Tabelog, and made a reservation just before the day before. Restaurants Restaurants like a French cuisine in the basement. There is only a small signboard near the entrance, and I almost walked right past it. *Click on the photos to enlarge them. "PORTE" means "door" and "VERITE" means "truth," and the restaurant name "LAPORTEDEVERITE" means "door to truth." The chef's beliefs can be seen in the name of the restaurant. The interior is modern and calm, not too large or too small. It's the perfect description of a hideaway Restaurants for adults Sparkling wine for the toast and hors d'oeuvres (marinated Seafood delivered directly from the source, served with a fresh herb salad) Spring cabbage potage soup. Rich and delicious. Today's fish dish (made with fish delivered directly from Kochi every day. It was sea bass on this day). The sauce was delicious! It went great with the bamboo shoots, bracken, asparagus, cauliflower, etc.! Yebisu draft beer! It was exactly what you'd expect from Yebisu! My husband had a beef fillet dish (left) and I had a chicken dish (right). When we made the reservation online, we checked the box for wedding anniversaries, so there was a congratulatory message on the dessert plate. We spent nearly two hours slowly savoring our meal! The ingredients were probably well-chosen, but each dish was carefully made and the sauce was delicious - I couldn't help but dip my bread in it too - and it was a moment when I thought I should have ordered more bread (lol) There was only one female staff member on the floor. At first, I thought, Huh? Only one person? But the food took a long time to come out, so I thought he was enough. He had a nice, quiet demeanor and a gentle smile. (By the way, the restaurant had a notice saying, "Please plan to spend two hours in Restaurants for both lunch and dinner.") When I left, the chef saw me off up the stairs. It seems that he comes out to see customers off every time they leave. That kind of thoughtfulness is nice (he had a genuine demeanor). Since I was in the area, I decided to stop by Rokkakudo after lunch. Shiunzan Chohoji is a small temple surrounded by buildings, and is called Rokkakudo because the main hall is a hexagonal building. I vaguely remember the existence of the navel stone, which is said to be proof that the temple was founded by Prince Shotoku, the birthplace of Ikebana, and located in the center of Kyoto, but I think this was the first time I'd seen the 16 Arhats, who always have smiling faces and practice gentle language, and the Interactive Buddha, to which worshippers attach gold leaf labels while making wishes??? I wonder if it's been around for a long time? It was quite interesting. It's nice to have lunch in Kyoto with this kind of extra.
