先斗町と木屋町通を繋ぐ、人ひとりがやっとすれ違えるような狭い路地裏の中ほどにあるお店です。
店先の赤い三連提灯が目印と言えば目印ですが、そこにお店があると知らなければ、気付かないような目立たないお店です。
提灯の「たこ焼」の文字に惹かれて入ってみると、3～4名掛けの小さめのカウンターと、狭めの座敷に4人掛けテーブルを三卓押し込んだという感じの、小さなお店でした。
木屋町通に面した賑やかなお店とは違って、落ち着いた雰囲気で、まさに隠れ家といった感じです。
生ビールとたこ焼5個を注文して、たこ焼が焼きあがるまでのあいだは、お店の雰囲気と常連客らしいカウンター客の会話に耳を傾けながら、先斗町らしい雰囲気を楽しみました。
焼きあがって出てきたたこ焼を見て、その大きさにまずビックリ。
大玉たこ焼と言われているモノより、さらに一回り大きいかも知れません。
それに、きれいな鉢皿盛られて、ソースも上からかけるのではなく、たこ焼の下に敷くという、盛り付けの美しさにも感心。
一口食べてみて、その食感にもビックリ。
フワトロとかカリトロといった、たこ焼らしい食感とは全く別物で、言い表すならザクザクです。
ザクザクの正体はキャベツと紅生姜、特に紅生姜の量は半端ありません。
食感的には、お好み焼に近いです。
表面の生地もほどよく焦がしてあって、香ばしさとザクザク食感がよく合います。
ソースはたこ焼の下に薄く敷いてあるだけなので、テーブルに備えてあるソースを足して使うのですが、辛口ソースがこのたこ焼には良く合うと感じました。
一般的なたこ焼とは全く別のたこ焼ですが、立地的な要素も含めて、また来たいと思わせられる満足度満点のたこ焼でした。
