出町柳駅から歩いて14分くらいの場所にあるこちらのお店。下鴨神社の境内に入っています。
流鏑馬の日だったのか神社そのものがものすごく混んでいましたがお店には入れました。
申餅 ほうじ茶付 450円
申餅は宮司の口伝や文献をもとに約140年ぶりに復元。
平安時代から葵祭で神前に供えられていたものとのことでした。
上品な甘さの丹波産小豆を、空に太陽が昇る際の「はねず色」の餅で包んでいます。
食べることで身体を清め、無事息災に過ごせるように願った古事に由来しているそう。
店内利用の場合はほうじ茶が付いてきます。
小ぶりでかなり食べやすく一瞬で食べ終わってしまいました。
140年ぶりに復元された貴重な和菓子を食べることができるお店。機会があれば再訪したいです。
