A hidden gem with everything from Kyoto-style udon to desserts!
This restaurant in Kyoto's Ukyo Ward takes pride in its delicious soup. We offer a wide variety of dishes, from a la carte dishes, rice bowls, set meals, and desserts. We also have our original dishes |
Today's lunch is "Udonmeshi Bunsuke". It is an udon restaurant located on the corner of Marutamachi-dori and Shimodachiuri-dori, an intersection that seems strange to Kyoto people in Hanazono, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City. When I passed Marutamachi-dori, I always noticed the tapestry. The restaurant is small with five counter seats and one table. The menu has a variety of standard dishes such as Noodles and rice bowls. There are also many set meals. The restaurant's recommendations are prominently displayed at the beginning of the menu. There are also seasonal recommendations such as curry nabeyaki udon. Let's try the standard recommendation, "Bunsuke Special Tsukemen (Dipping Nudle) (beef) Grilled Onigiri Set" for 950 yen. You can help yourself to the cold water and towels. Although it is an udon and Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) restaurant, the menu also recommends Sweets. Most of the dishes that came on the tray are white. If you think about it, there are too many carbohydrates. The udon is a standard Kyoto noodle that is neither soft nor chewy. The dipping sauce is filled with plenty of meat and green onions. The dipping sauce is thin, but the flavor is strong and you can drink it by itself. Onigiri are made to order, and are grilled thoroughly in a short time. When dipped in the dipping sauce, they do not fall apart because they are grilled. If you cut the grilled pieces into small pieces, the flavor will soak in the broth and it will have a unique taste. At the bottom of the dipping sauce, there is soft crumbled rice soaked in the broth, which gives it a different texture and is interesting. The restaurant I was interested in was a place where I could enjoy interesting dishes with good value for money.
