この日は誕生日だった。58歳である。偶々、帰省と重なり、夙川沿い、越水浄水場の桜、廣田神社のコバノミツバツツジの群生も、未だ満開には早かったが直に目の当たりにして楽しんだのだが、誕生日の日は有給休暇を取って、伏見の酒蔵群があるこの場所に出向いた。淀川へと続く濠川をゆっくりと動く十石船や三十石船、寺田屋、全てではないが未だ昔を残す酒蔵の建屋等は、幾度と写真や映像で観たことはあるが、赴いたことはなかった。家から近くもないが遠いとも言えない。ちょっとした日帰り旅行の気分で細君と出向いた。
事前に、予約をして昼食を取ったのがこの店である。月桂冠の酒蔵の一部を改造した店とのこと。自分の住んでいる阪神間が灘五合で所謂「灘の男酒」だが、伏見も劣らぬ酒処で、此方は「伏見の女酒」と言われている。日本三大酒処の一つである。全部で20少しの酒蔵がある様子だが、その名を知っていて飲んだことのあるものは、月桂冠、黄桜、松竹梅、金鵄正宗、玉乃光、英勲程である。男酒、女酒の区別を知らぬし伏せられて飲んでも区別は出来ないであろう。恐らく水の質の違いから来るものであろうが、飲んで美味いと思えば、何でも良い。玉乃光は東京で単身で生活している今でも、スーパーに置いてあるので四合瓶を時々買って、家で粉引きの盃で愉しんでいる。
事前に、2,500円程の「蔵人御膳」というものを頼んでいた。九つに区切られた箱の中に、日本酒に合う様な様々な料理が小さな分量で配されている他に、天ぷら、自家製の汲み上げ豆腐、お椀、じゃこご飯、香の物、甘味という構成である。写真にその詳細は記載されているので此処では態々記載しない。
これが実によく出来たもので、この価格で、色々なものがちゃんとしたかたちで安っぽくなく、一つ一つが気の利いたものであるのは、なかなかである。今でも料理のジャンルを問わず、色々、いぎたなく食べているが、老人とは言えないまでも、やはり歳と共に、こうした料理を特に美味しく感じる様になってきていることに何か感慨がある様である。
酒蔵が運営する店なので、当然にそこの酒を頂かないと片手落ちということもあり、この際には「恒の月」というものの300mlを呑んだ。980円なので良心的である。輸送コストが無く直販故ということだろう。
天井の高い、かなり広い空間だが、やはり昔の木造建築というのはその梁が見事である。飲食店に改造したことでそれはかなり減失しているが、酒造りには当然ということになるが、光が過剰に入らない様に灯り取りも制限があり、未だ、暗がりの中で楽しめる陰翳が密かにある様である。漆黒の椀の美しさはかそけき光の中でこそ映えるものである。飲食店である以上、昔の儘では色々不便もあるだろうから、便利な様に改装するのは当然としても、普段、陰翳を味わえる日本の古来の建屋というものは今や少ないどころか殆ど無い。故に、外国人も多いこの地で、その「陰翳」を残しながら、日本の酒、料理を提供して頂ければ素敵なことである。
食事後、粗方、この街を散策して満喫した。意外と川縁の桜が見事でありがたかった。
