I was in the mood for kushikatsu, so I decided on this restaurant after consulting with a friend from Yamashina. 3 minutes walk from JR Yamashina Station. After exiting the ticket gate, go south and turn two lanes to your right (west) to find it on the north-south street known as ``Yamashina Kyogoku''. The interior has the feel of a popular Izakaya (Japanese-style bar), and I wouldn't say it's pretty, but considering the price, it can be described as retro. There are counter seats, tatami rooms, and a tatami room for groups in the back.We were seated at the counter seats. It was crowded for about 8 minutes at around 8pm on a Sunday, and it seemed to be popular compared to the surrounding shops. All kushikatsu are 80 yen. The beef skewer, which is limited to one per person, is a little smaller than a cigarette pack and is a great value! There are only two shrimp available, but they are crispy and satisfying to eat. The oyster kushikatsu was a personal highlight for me. The famous Dote-yaki is rich and a big hit. I love it so much that I can enjoy the soup with alcohol. I drank a fair amount and the unit price was around 3000 yen, so I think the cost performance is pretty good.
