◇■November 2019■◇ I was told about this at the front desk of the hotel I stayed at in Fukuchiyama. I was arriving at the hotel at 5pm. It has a good reputation, but I wonder if there will be seats available since it's the weekend? So I hurried to the restaurant at 5:30pm (about a 5 minute walk). "We have a seat available until 8pm (^^♪)" they said. "No, about an hour will be fine." Is the entire restaurant private? I was shown to a room and opened the door to find a sunken kotatsu table for two. It looked like counter seating... (^_^;) "It's a lovey-dovey seat!" my partner laughed. Now, starting with the seasonal and local items: Grilled black edamame 380 yen Ginkgo snack 380 yen Let's start with a toast!! The edamame are sweet! And plump. This time of year is definitely black beans (^^)v The ginkgo nuts are a little small but had a rich flavour. Ezo country cold tofu (soy sauce) Satsuma Chiran chicken wasabi omelet The tofu was like a pudding, I thought, but it was just ordinary tofu. Maybe it could do with a little more soy flavour? The chicken wasabi was also ordinary. The rolled sushi roll was fluffy and tightly wrapped, and the flavor of the soup was good. Overall, it was neither good nor bad, just average. However, maybe the price was just a little high? I usually only eat cheap food (lol). The restaurant was quiet and the service was polite. I can see why it's called a hidden gem. I hardly met any other customers, and I paid the bill at my seat. How secretive is that? lol. When I went outside after finishing my meal, there was a private parking lot in front of the restaurant with about 20 spaces, but it was full. It's amazing, so families come to Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) like this. I'd like to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal ヽ(^o^)丿
