Today we had a gourmet get-together here. Thanks to a kind invitation from a fellow foodie, we were able to visit. This is a popular restaurant where you can eat Kuwana clams to your heart's content, and it is difficult to make reservations. On Sunday, we reserved one room exclusively for six people. It has a splendid appearance and a wonderful atmosphere that makes you feel the history. We only had a course menu, and the waitresses provided full service. Therefore, in addition to the 10% consumption tax, an additional 20% service charge will be charged. ◆ Clam hotpot course 10,500 yen / tax and service charge not included ◯ Appetizer ・ Prosciutto ・Cherry tomatoes topped with prosciutto ・Tuna and Japanese tea yuba ・Fava beans ・Dashimaki egg ・Firefly squid ・Sake-kasu cheese ◯ Clam hotpot ・Clams ・Kuzu noodles ・Tofu ・Scallions ・Mitsuba ◯Grilled clams ◯ Tempura ◯Rice porridge, etc. ◯Dessert ◆ Ordered drinks ・HANZO Ninja Ale ・Wakakai Cider from the brewery ------- Details below ------- The waitress cooks everything across from the table, serves it in bowls, and brings it to you. First, the appetizer. A 7-item assortment! It's a shame that we didn't get a non-alcoholic drink because we were driving. Personally, I really like the small plate of chunks of tuna topped with thick Japanese tea yuba. The sake kasu cheese makes me want to shout for some sake lol From here, I will enjoy the clam hotpot. The base of the hotpot soup is bonito and kelp. From here, the clams are boiled for a long time, so the clam broth becomes thicker as the soup gets deeper. In the first half, 2 clams → 3 clams → kudzu noodles → 2 clams. The clams are large, and the juicy soup overflows from the plump meat in your mouth. Wow, this is delicious. It's delicate, but the flavor is strong. The kudzu noodles in between are the perfect timing to enjoy the clam broth in the middle. I've never had such delicious kudzu noodles before! After tasting the clams in the hotpot, Tempura and grilled (pre-order required) are served. Of all the delicious dishes, the tempura Tempura by far the best for me. The clams are wrapped in locally produced seaweed, and the juicy flavor of the clams is wrapped in seaweed with a pleasant sea scent, and then sealed in with Tempura batter. It's the best, I was surprised at this way of eating. Grilled clams show a different side to the clams in the hot pot, so I recommend grilling some of the clams you use in the hot pot. The broth is full of flavor and even creamy, and is pure and undiluted. It's really rich, and grilling may be the true essence of Kuwana clams. In the second half, we taste the clam "broth". The tofu, green onion, and mitsuba can be eaten with ponzu or ginger soy sauce, but I went for ponzu. The tofu has a strong soy flavor, and the crunchy mitsuba is good. Next, I dropped an egg into the rice porridge...there's no way this could be bad. The broth is super effective! Of course I had a second helping. To finish the meal, there are several Noodles to choose from, but I chose Kishimen. It went perfectly with the thick noodles, and I savored the broth until the very end, drinking and finishing the whole thing. For dessert, I had roasted green tea Ice cream. It was a delicious meal. I felt like I had enjoyed enough clams to last me a year. There are various restrictions on the fishing of Kuwana clams, and they are still one of the most precious ingredients. It was amazing to be able to enjoy such Kuwana clams to this extent. There are several other specialty shops in the city, so if I have the chance, I would like to go and eat clam hotpot again. *At the time of visit: Rating 4.14
