Bunka Yokocho is a drinking street a little away from the hustle and bustle of Sendai's downtown. Genji is a hideaway for adults, located further down a narrow alley from this alley. Those who don't know about it won't be able to find it. They have a unique four-cup rule, with the concept of drinking alcohol in a refined and elegant manner, and you can only drink up to four cups. From the first cup onwards, each cup is served with a side dish, and it seems that they want you to eat the right snacks before drinking. Since four cups is the limit, the fourth cup is accompanied by miso soup or oden, and that is the custom here. Unfortunately, the famous proprietress will be retiring at the end of March this year. I sincerely hope that the restaurant will continue to exist.
