いよいよ仙台での開拓を本格化させようとすると、どうしても牛たんと向き合わねばならず、一つ一つ、折に触れて計画的に訪れておくこともさることながら、いわゆる基準点はどこか、という座標軸を持っておかねばなりません。
先日、家探しの後に訪れたお店のほうは、１時間待ちの人気店であるがゆえにクオリティは流石と言わざるを得ない反面、あれをゼロ座標と考えるのはやや酷な気もし、となると、東京へも出店を出しているこちら〈利久〉は、チェーン展開しているがゆえにある種の基準として考えるには好適かなと、一度向き合っておくのが得策、と考え、東京からの帰り道、スーツケースを曳いて訪れました。
駅ナカのお店ゆえ、スーツケース帯同でも優しく迎え入れてくれるのは、優れた点として記憶しておいてもいいかもしれない。
はてさて、何にしようかといささか悩む。
〈極み焼き〉が美味しいというのは何となくチラ見えしたのだが、基準点探しには聊か趣旨が違う、と、塩と味噌、２種の味が楽しめる〈牛たん味くらべ定食〉にした。〈卵とろろ〉を追加し、麦飯は大盛り。
やがて出て来たお姿は、大盛りにした麦飯が笑っちゃうような漫画盛りだし、なんだかとろろに埋められた卵黄は色が濃い。それに比べて、いささか、、、牛たんが貧相に見えてしまうのは、お皿がちょっと大きすぎるのかも。
牛たんそのものは、味は悪くないどころか中々おいしくいただけるものだけど、先日訪れたお店が、歯で噛み締めるとふっつりと肉の繊維が切れて行った快感があったけれど、ちょっとぎゅむぎゅむするというか、爽快に肉の繊維が切れて行く感覚はない。
しかしとろろに落とされた黄身の濃さなどを考えると、こちらの真髄は、牛たん焼きそのものよりも、その周辺料理にあるのではという気になって来る。
有り体に言えば、カレー、とかね。
これはこれで、訪れた甲斐があったというもの。アレコレ言うより、食べるに勝るは無し。少しずつ、牛たん経験値を上げていこう。
