I arrived in Sendai, the city of trees. Even though it was a weekday afternoon, most of the restaurants on the main street were closed, probably because of the Obon festival. The Cow tongue restaurant I was looking for was sold out even though it was 12:30. I finally found a restaurant that was open, and arrived here. Special Yakiniku (Grilled meat) Gozen 1,800 yen. The meat included two slices each of salted tongue, kalbi, loin, and skirt steak, as well as some horumon. It came with miso soup, rice, and pickles, so the price was reasonable. All of the meat was of good quality and delicious. It was also nice and modern that one person could occupy an entire roaster. The miso soup was disappointingly bland with no toppings. The rice was okay too. Lunch in Sendai was pretty good.
